Scania is a Swedish manufacturer of heavy trucks, buses, and industrial and marine engines, founded in 1891 in Malmö and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany's Traton Group (Volkswagen Group) since 2014. Headquartered in Södertälje, the company employs about 57,000 people and generates annual revenue of roughly SEK 184 billion, selling trucks in more than 100 countries with a reputation built on modular product architecture and fuel efficiency.\n\nScania's modular system lets customers configure trucks from a relatively small set of standardized components — cabins, chassis, engines, and drivelines — which delivers industry-leading parts commonality, lower lifecycle costs, and a famously strong resale value. The company is a pioneer in alternative fuels: its engines run on biodiesel, HVO, biogas, and ethanol, and its electric truck range now spans distribution and regional haulage, with battery-electric buses operating in cities across Europe and Latin America.\n\nFor fleet operators and transporters, Scania is a total-transport partner offering trucks, financing, insurance, and telematics-based services through its connected-vehicle platform, and for suppliers, its modular architecture and high production volumes in Sweden, Brazil, and the Netherlands make it a stable long-term customer for driveline components and electronics.
