Equinor is Norway's state-controlled energy company, founded in 1972 as Statoil to manage the country's newly discovered North Sea oil wealth. Headquartered in Stavanger, the company employs about 23,000 people and generates annual revenue of roughly US$107 billion, ranking among the world's largest offshore oil and gas producers and a global leader in offshore wind.\n\nEquinor's oil and gas portfolio includes some of the most productive fields on earth — Johan Sverdrup, the largest producing field in the North Sea, and the Troll field, Europe's gas anchor — with production of about 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The company is simultaneously executing one of the industry's most aggressive energy transitions: it operates the world's largest floating offshore wind farms (Hywind Scotland, Hywind Tampen), is building a global offshore wind pipeline in the UK, the United States, and Poland, and leads the Northern Lights project, the world's first open-access CO2 transport and storage network.\n\nFor industrial suppliers, Equinor is a demanding and rewarding customer: its offshore installations require specialized subsea equipment, drilling services, and process technology, and its wind and CCS projects are creating entirely new supply chains for cables, foundations, and carbon-capture equipment across Northern Europe.
