COTESI - Companhia de Têxteis Sintéticos S.A., founded in 1967 and based in Grijó, Portugal, produces natural sisal and synthetic agricultural yarn and is described as the world's largest producer in that category. Its range covers yarns, ropes, nets, cables, sacks and fishing nets made from synthetic and natural raw materials. The company holds a quality management system certified by APCER covering design, development and production of yarns, ropes, nets and nautical cables. It exports 90% of output, valued at 200 million euros, to 90 markets, serves 10,000 customers, and operates through its own distributors in nine key markets including the United States, Canada and France, with 50 distribution centers in the US. Baling accounts for 60% of revenue. COTESI is part of the Violas SGPS group and operates across Europe, North America and South America.
