BATREC INDUSTRIE AG is a Swiss recycling services company based in Wimmis, founded in 1989 and part of the Veolia Group. It specializes in processing batteries and mercury-containing waste, handling sludges, contaminated soil, protective clothing, filters, mercury-laden liquids, button cells, relays, switches, thermometers, blood pressure monitors, lamps, dental waste such as amalgam and separators, and mercury-containing chemicals. The company produces mercury with a purity exceeding 99.9999% and reactivated activated carbon, reintroducing recovered materials into the economic cycle. Its high-purity mercury is used in dental amalgam production, porosimetry, polarography, and lamps.
