Schneider Electric began in 1836 as Schneider & Cie, an iron and steel foundry in Le Creusot, France, that built locomotives and armaments. The company's transformation into an electrical giant took a century of pivots — into electricity distribution, then automation — and was sealed in 1991 when it formally renamed itself Schneider Electric to reflect where the future actually was. The name change proved prophetic: the company is now the global leader in energy management and industrial automation.
The product range is the industry's most complete for electrical infrastructure: low- and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, power monitoring, UPS systems, PLCs and industrial control systems, plus the EcoStruxure software platform that connects factory floors and building systems to the cloud.
