Dangote Industries is Africa's largest conglomerate and the industrial empire of Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest person, founded in 1981 in Lagos, Nigeria, as a trading company. The group employs about 30,000 people and generates annual revenue of roughly US$4 billion from cement, sugar, salt, flour, and — since 2024 — petroleum refining.\n\nDangote Cement is the group's crown jewel: with production capacity of more than 50 million tonnes per year, it is the largest cement company in Africa and one of the top ten worldwide, with plants and import terminals across Nigeria and 9 other African countries.
