SOLARSPRING GMBH MEMBRANE SOLUTIONS

SolarSpring GmbH Membrane Solutions, founded in 2009 in Freiburg, Germany, emerged from Fraunhofer ISE and specialises in membrane distillation for water treatment and drinking water production. The company supplies membrane distillation technology where conventional wastewater treatment reaches its limits or process liquid disposal is not financially viable, and solar-powered purification systems for water sources outside conventional infrastructure. Systems are manufactured in-house at the Solar House in Freiburg. The team includes six engineers, most with the company since its founding, and numerous membrane distillation and filtration installations have been completed worldwide. Collaborations with local and regional suppliers support the company's operations. It received the Land der Ideen prize in 2012 and the Technology Transfer Award from TU Chemnitz in 2014.
