SICK AG is a manufacturer of sensors and sensor solutions for production, logistics and process automation, founded in 1946 and headquartered in Waldkirch, Germany. Its product portfolio includes industrial sensors, encoders and analyzers, covering ultrasonic sensors, LiDAR sensors, displacement sensors, safety devices, measurement and inspection sensors, proximity sensors, optical sensors and safety controllers. The company operates more than 50 subsidiaries and equity investments plus agencies worldwide, and reported revenue of around €2.2 billion in fiscal 2022. Its first subsidiary opened in France in 1972, followed by the USA in 1975; it became a joint stock company in 1996 and issued employee shares in 1999.
