Reiner Kartengeräte GmbH & Co KG

Reiner Kartengeräte GmbH & Co KG, trading as REINER SCT, is a German manufacturer of security hardware headquartered in Furtwangen in the Black Forest. Established in 1997, the firm develops and builds its products domestically and reports a workforce of 45. Its portfolio centres on smart card readers for secure online banking, merchant and tradesman terminals that accept girocards, and PC access-protection devices. Readers for the electronic identity card are also produced, an area where the company is regarded as an early mover in public-sector IT applications. A further line covers time-tracking and access-control systems aimed at small and medium-sized businesses. Software and hardware engineering are handled in-house, and the company provides sales and end-customer service itself. It operates internationally as part of the REINER group, family-owned since 1913.
