About HORTICOLAS CASAL DA AVÓ, LDA.
Hortícolas Casal D'Avó, Lda. traces its origins to 1953, when founder Manuel Jorge Gomes inherited the first lands that now form part of its properties. Based in the municipality of Torres Novas in Ribatejo, Portugal, the company produces 10 varieties of fruits and vegetables. Early cultivation covered wheat, barley and corn before shifting to turnips supplied to Lisbon's Ribeira market. The business is now managed by Mr. Gomes and his five children. Sales exceeded 1 million euros in 2010 and approached 3 million in 2021. More than 450 hectares are under cultivation, supported by tractors and washing and sorting machinery, a 250 m2 cold storage facility and a new 1,800 m2 warehouse in Golegã.
